Synonyms Stephen King’s “The Jungle Books” and Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” will get a reboot, and the studio will focus on the “universe of the books.”
It will be set in 2019 and will feature an all-female cast that includes Lupita Nyong’o as Princess Aurora and Scarlett Johansson as the titular fairy.
The reboot will be written by the original authors, and it will feature the voices of Scarlett Johanson and Sofia Boutella.
The Jungle Book, the fifth book in the series, is based on Stephen King and the Jungle Book: The Complete Stories series.
The film will be released in 2019, and Disney has set a release date for 2021.
The franchise has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide and earned more than $2.6 billion in box office receipts.
